Description
If you are making any changes to the host or hardware (e.g. CPU) of the server, you will need to follow the transfer process below. For example, it is common practice for IT departments to move virtual machines to different file locations to free up space on servers.
This article does not apply to local/standalone licences. For information on transferring local node-lock licences, please click here.
If you attempt to make any changes to the server without transferring the licence, then the following error will occur within the Pitram Portal > System > Manage Licence. This can only resolved through a request to our Pitram Licensing team which work standard office hours.
Steps
Existing server / before changes are made
- Remote onto the existing Network License Server. This is the server which the Micromine Network License Server Service is installed
- Launch Command Prompt in Administrator Mode.
- Change your working directory to the folder of your Network License Server, where the NLS-UTIL exists.
For example: cd C:\Program Files\Micromine Network License Server
Note: if the NLS-UTIL doesn’t exist at C:\Program Files\Micromine Network License Server then please check another drive or check if the service is hosted on another server.
- Use the following command to see if there are any custom server settings that have been implemented. Replace the IP to your existing NLS. The default setting is to Auto detect Proxy servers however you can also configure a specific Proxy Server in the Network License Server
5. Use the following command to show the current license features installed. This will show you the features you can return. Replace the IP to your existing NLS.
The default Feature name will be PITRAM or PITRAM_TEST however at some sites there maybe multiple features deployed on one Micromine Network License server.
nls-util.exe -server 127.0.0.1 -command list-licence-features
6. Use the following command to return the license feature.
nls-util.exe -server 127.0.0.1 -command return-licence-features MICROMINE
Take note of the returned license activation code. You will need this later.
Note: License features have a return limit of 2 in a 30-day period. If exceeded, please submit a support case for further assistance.
New server / after changes are made
-

2. Select "System" tab on the top of the screen to the far left and then select the tab Manage Licence.
Click on update Licence which will be the server address of the server which Pitram Licence Service is running on. In this case it is the same server as the Micromine Network Licence Server. The default port is 6200.
-
Enter your activation code and press the Activate Licence button
4. The licence should appear in the licences tab and can be Checked-out using the Check-out Licence button
