This is a guide to understanding the future events feature in Pitram Control Room.
Overview:

Event Editor displays an error:
"This event was generated with a future time. Please ensure that the client is synced with the server".
This happens because the time on your PC is not synchronized with the server time. The time function may be managed by your organisational IT team. The time can be fixed by syncing your PC time in Windows Date and Time settings with the server time.
Context:
There are three timestamps generated in a Pitram system.
- Edit Time
- The time an event was edited, or created if added through Event Editor.
- Event Time
- Events generated using Event Editor, Data Acquisition or Pitram Mobile will have the time logged against the event.
- Server Logged Time
- The time the application & database server completed logging the event.
Issue:
Events captured or edited in Data Acquisition, Event Editor or the Pitram Mobile applications are sent to the database server for storage. If the Server Logged Time has a timestamp behind (Slower than) the Event Time or the Edit Time result in the error message. This is an issue because allocations or logical event orders are disrupted and may not generate reliable data for the shift.
Steps:
To attempt to resolve this issue, a number of system clocks should be synchronised. This task should be undertaken on the Client machine (The Control Room PC, Pitram Mobile Device) or on the servers (A combination of Application and Database Servers).
- From the Windows search bar, type 'Change the date and time' and then select the feature.
- Navigate to 'Synchronise your clock'
- Select 'Sync now'
When successful newly generated events will not display further warning messages.
Please Note: Some of the Date and Time settings may be managed by your organisational policies and you may not have access to adjust these features. If this is the case, you will need to get in contact with your IT Administrator to perform the update. They may need to consider other factors also.
