This guide has been created to assist administrators in effectively and safely restarting Pitram services.
Pitram version 13+
Overview
The Pitram Services Management Web Console replaces the legacy desktop-based Pitram Server Management Console. This modernized tool provides users with browser-based access to monitor and manage Pitram services, increasing flexibility and accessibility across machines connected to the hosting server.
Accessing the Web Console
-
Open a web browser.
-
Navigate to:
http://<master-watchdog-address>:925
Replace<master-watchdog-address>with the hostname or IP address of the server running the PITRAM Watchdog Master Service.
i.e "http://127.0.0.1:925/"
Note:
For remote access, ensure that port 925 is open on any firewalls between the client machine and the Watchdog Master and Agent hosts. -
The console home page will display a list of monitored services, grouped by the server or agent they’re hosted on.
Service Status:
Green: Running
Yellow: Unmonitored
Red: Stopped - Select Admin in the top right and enter the password
- Here you can start/restart/stop all the monitored Pitram Services.
1) Always stop Dome Connector Service first
2) Then PITRAM Core Services second
3) Reversed order when starting services
Services can be:
Started | Stopped | Restarted
Pitram versions 10 -> 12
You can log into a machine that has the Pitram Server Management Tool installed. For IT Administrators, this software can be found on the application server.
The tool will display a list of services currently being tracked by Pitram.
Core Services:
- PITRAM General Services
- PITRAM Event Server
- PITRAM Reference Data Service
- PITRAM Business Model Service
Portal Services:
- DOME Connector Service
- WWW Publishing Service
Database Server:
- SQL Server
Management Console Feaures
The Refresh button in the top left should be used frequently throughout this process to keep the information displayed up to date.
Within the console, you can see
- Which server the services are located,
- The service status. Running/Stopped/Pending
- The health of the service.
- The Startup order
- Which Policy the services belong to
- The version
At a glance the Health of a services tells you how the system is performing.
- Green is good and means that the service is up and running.
- Yellow is unknown, the console is not linked to that service, and can't track it.
- Red is down, the service is not currently running.
Starting and Stopping Services
You can select individual services and start/stop them from the menu on the right.
The best practice when bringing services online is to do All Pitram Core and Dome connector services together. This ensures they are all functioning together. This can be achieved by following the Start order policy.
1. Stop all Pitram Core
2. Start all Pitram Core
3. Stop Dome Connector
4. Start Dome Connector
Note: The Start/Stop All button will affect all four Pitram core services simultaneously when pressed.
The SQL Server and WW3 services are not necessary to facilitate a Pitram restart and should be left alone.
A service restart is complete once they all return to green/running status. Pitram Portal may take up to 5 minutes after this process to come back online.
Server Patching
When server patching takes place the services can be stopped using the management console. You'll then have to stop the Pitram Watchdog service through Windows services.
With this stopped it will ensure the watchdog doesn't try to automatically bring Pitram back online before patching is complete.
Once it is done, you can restart the watchdog and bring the Pitram services back online using the Management console.
Old Watchdog Console. Pitram v7 - v9
Steps:
- Select 'Pitram Services' from the tabs at the top.
- Click 'Connect' to connect to the watchdog and populate the server list.
- Navigate down to the bottom right and click 'Stop All', the status of each will show Stopped.
- Next, click the next tab along 'Dome Services'.
- Again click 'Connect' to populate the server list.
- DOME will be highlighted and click 'Stop Service', check status is Stopped.
- Click along to 'IIS Services' in the Tabs.
- Click 'Connect' to populate the server list.
- 'WWW Publishing Service' will be highlighted and click 'Stop Service', check status is Stopped.
- Highlight 'ISS Admin Service' by selecting it.
- Click 'Stop Service', and check the status is Stopped.
Note: You may select the 'Refresh' button on the screen at any time to make sure the status is 'stopped'.
- The services must now be restarted in the same order; return to the "Pitram Services" tab.
- Click "Start all" and wait for all four services to show "Running" status.
- Once they're running, move to "Dome Services" Tab
- With "DOME Connector Service" selected, click "Start Service" and wait for the "Running" status to show.
- Click on to 'IIS Services' Tab
- Select "World Wide Web Publishing Service" and then "Start Service", wait for it to show running
- Select "IIS Admin Service" and then "Start Service", wait for it to show running.
- Check all three tabs again, making sure all services are "Running" using the "Refresh" button if unsure.
- Launch the Pitram Portal web application in your browser of choice and select 'Pitram Service'. Here you can check all the services to ensure they are running as expected.

Hi Team,
Any chance we can get an update to this guide to cover the new PSMC that was released in v11?
regards
James.
Hi Micromine team,
We are updating our knowledge base with reference to this article. Any chance it can be updated with latest images please?
Also reference when doing server patching would be good if we need to worry about stopping services and if there is a preferred sequence for server restarts.
Thanks
